‘Mrs Collins, please make way, I am presuming the bedroom next to my own is free?!’ Lord Donaldson raised his voice loudly as he entered into the grand hallway carrying the body of a semi-unconscious woman in his arms. ‘Why yes Lord Donaldson, that room is always left free on your insistence...we do not allow it to be occupied even by your family members or friends who come to stay from time to time. But why My Lord are you asking such a question? And who is she? Poor thing...did you find her like this, what has happened to her?’ Mrs Collin’s Lord Donaldson’s housekeeper spoke in worry and confusion as she noted the bundle in his arms and rushed to his side. ‘That I cannot tell you, Mrs Collins, I found her on the ground lying all alone out on the moors. She was delirious at first; mumbling some words I could not understand, and she would not tell me her name or answer my other questions either. So I thought only to bring her back here...she is not speaking now, I worry for her....please Mrs Collins send for Doctor Barnes, I will take her upstairs, to the bedroom next to my own as discussed.’ ‘Yes My Lord, I will get one of the footmen to send for the doctor at once, though it is a late hour.’ ‘Then make it clear to Doctor Barnes that it was I who has sent for him on a very urgent situation, and that he will be compensated accordingly for any inconvenience that will be caused to him tonight and hereafter. Do you understand?’
